Ghanaian celebrities are banned from endorsing betting companies

Earlier this year, Bet Planet which is currently the biggest betting company in Ghana signed celebrities such as Nadia Buari, Nkansah Lilwin, Moesha,Kidi and EFya as their brand ambassadors.

According to a new guideline issued for operators, individuals with huge followers on social media are not allowed to be used as ambassadors to encourage people to go into betting because it’s a way of promoting gambling.

Industry person’s such as Sadiq Abdulai who is the CEO of 3music and artiste manager Bullet of Rufftown records has added their voice to the new development.

Some believes it will be very difficult for creative persons to survive since one of their source of income is blocked.

Others are also of the view that,the commission should use the celebrities to lead a campaign to prevent the youth from gambling since they have the power to influence the youth positively.
